Creating a proper bandage is both the science and an art form. The products which I have listed in our catalog are all products that I use every day. Used correctly, they are all that you need for most equine bandaging. More to be added.

There are dozens of parasite control compounds out there. The following items provide you with all you need of the effective classes of current equine wormers, economically priced. The medications I have available on the site are what we use. Be careful of using the Quest products in miniature horses and young horses of any breed (under one year). Eqvalan (Ivermectin) liquid 100 ml (10 ml for 1000 lb. horse, will worm 10 horses). While there have been some reports of resistance in parasite populations to ivermectin, it remains a mainstay of parasite control. Eqvalan is a trusted brand name of liquid ivermectin.

Eqvalan plastic dosing gun for ivermectin liquid. If you purchase liquid ivermectin, you need this gun. It makes dosing easy and quick. Pay attention to cleaning it with disinfectant between horses. Dilute chlorhexidine is a suitable disinfectant for this.

EQUIMAX™ 6.42 gr tube (ivermectin/praziquantel). EQUIMAX™ is an FDA-approved, all-in-one dewormer that combines ivermectin and praziquantel to safely and effectively rid horses of all major internal parasites, including tapeworms, in a single dose. It treats 1320 lbs and is apple flavored. Equimax can be used in horses 4 weeks of age and older and is the only combination dewormer approved for use in pregnant and lactating mares as well as breeding stallions.

Quest+ 11.6 gr tube (moxidectin/praziquantel). This is the super-effective moxidectin compound, a newer compound related to ivermectin, which will kill even the encysted stages of small strongyles in the gut wall. Ivermectin will not do this. Be careful of using the Quest products in miniature horses and youngsters of any breed (under one year). For more information, contact me.

Strongid paste single syringe (pyrantel pamoate). Still an effective parasite control agent in a rotation program.

Strongid C2x, 50 lb. bag. This is the most economical way to buy Strongid C2x. Remember the PreventiCare program, through your vet and Pfizer, which provides “Colic insurance” to horses enrolled and conforming to the preventative medicine points. If your horses are being seen by a veterinarian twice a year for vaccinations, and are on Strongid-C, you would be smart to be enrolled in this program. A 50 pound bag will last a typical 1000 lb. horse one year.

Following are our recommended vaccines for this year. You will need to e-mail me when ordering these products. The vaccines that are on our sales product list are those that we use in our practice as routine vaccinations. Calvenza flu/rhino 1 dose. We like this product and feel that it gives as good a protection for these elusive and difficult to prevent diseases as there currently is. Should be given every 6 months. Can be given intranasally.

Calvenza flu/rhino 10 dose tank

Rhinomune 1 dose. This is considered by many to be the most protective rhinopneumoniitis vaccine available and is the only one that I know of that gives some protection against neurologic forms of rhino. It is a modified live vaccine. Given every 3 to 6 months.

Pneumabort-K+1b (Rhino for pregnant mares) ind. syringes (12 syringes). This is the familiar vaccine given to mares at months 5, 7 and 9 of their pregnancy to prevent late term abortion.

We have been very impressed with Solitude IGR at our boarding stable and clinic. We have had the lowest fly population that I have ever seen at a horse facility and I attribute it mostly to this product and good manure management.

There is debate over how effective Probiotic pastes (live bacterial cultures in a tube) are in the horse. The biggest problem relates to the breakdown of the product before it ever gets to the colon of the horse. It is more likely to help in foals. We have several others available through our hospital. The one we have available on the web is Probios, which has been around for many years.

Bio-Sponge Paste 60cc x 12 pack. This is a clay derived oral paste which is effective in binding certain bacterial toxins in diarrhea situations. It has been very helpful in our experience in certain cases. It is likely very safe and can be given to healthy foals without ill effect and may help reduce the incidence of intestinal infection.

Equi-Aid Psyllium Pellets 10 lb. All of the psyllium products are fed to help evacuate sand from the intestine of horses exposed to it. There have been questions about effectiveness, but I feel it has been very helpful. Remember that the most important thing you can do is keep your horses from ingesting sand in the first place.
